Why Hire a Tutor?

There are many reasons families choose to hire a tutor. Sometimes a child is struggling in school, other times a child needs something the school environment is not offering. As a tutor, I like to work with families and students to be sure that we are meeting the needs of the child as a team. believe that there should be clear goals for what the tutoring should accomplish and that there should be forms of assessment built into the program to ensure that a child is progressing. I work one-on-one with families to create a program that meets the needs of your individual child.

ith the growing popularity of the progressive model of education, parents often find themselves distanced from the education their child is receiving. Flashcards are no longer en vogue, and the Friday spelling test is a rarity. As schools push for less homework, and more creative thinking, it is often difficult for parents to know how to conceptualize their child's progress. Schools look different than they did 20 years ago, as they should. Progress in all areas can come with new struggles. The progressive education model often struggles because it is not the same educational model that most parents had in school.

To that end, it can be helpful to have support on the journey, especially in the early years of your child's education. Knowing if your child is getting what he/she needs and having more awareness in the process of your child's learning can only help you to understand the benefits of a progressive education. In addition, a tutor can help to ensure your child's growth by addressing some of the pieces not always covered in the classroom environment. Making sure that children have conceptual knowledge is incredibly important. At the same time, a balance with the fundamental pieces helps to give all children a solid foundation to work with. utoring can provide balance and act as a conduit between the classroom and home.
